Damn, my friends are good for my ego!

So my friend Tracey recently broke up with her boyfriend of a year. He's a douche, we've offered to stab him, I'm not going to linger on my vengeful fantasies regarding that dickwad. Our mutual friend Brent then Twittered to Tracey that he was going to start wearing a t-shirt that said "Ask me about my hot single friend." That started a whole mess o' Twitters about Brent wanting to "pimp out" his single girl friends.

When he told me that he wanted to include me in his list I was immediately flattered, obviously. ;) However I asked him to leave me off of the list for a couple of reasons, the main being I'm not...really...single. *ooooooh* ;) Never one to pass up a compliment, though, I asked Brent to tell me what had planned on writing about me, and he sent me the following:

TheFuzzball - I can't even start typing anything about Tracy without giggling, because she is the funniest person I've ever met in person.  If you like the TheBloggess's style of humor, you'll love Tracy.  They're different women, but TheFuzzball talks like TheBloggess writes, and with equal speed.  To me, the best part is that she's not making jokes by slamming people - she's just genuinely funny.  When I needed photos for work, I called Tracy because I knew the photo shoot would be a nonstop laughfest, and sure enough, Tracy's photos conveyed how much fun we had.  Oooo, there's a good idea: if you're a single geek guy, contact her about doing a photo shoot.  Say you need headshots for your presentations.  It's like a first date, only not really a date, so you can get to know each other in a relaxed environment.  What's that, you say?  I should stick to database administration instead of date planning?  Okay.  On to the next hottie.

And I would have written more, but I couldn't have you that far out of balance with the rest of 'em!  :-D  You're such a doll.  I swear to God, if I was single I'd be kicking down your door - well, and then probably begging for medical help for my freshly broken leg, because I don't do a lot of door-kicking.

Let me say this: All girls need a friend like Brent. :D He and his darling girlfriend Erika are two more reasons why I love the Caroline Collective. I never would have met them otherwise!

Now it's time for homework!

Okay those of you that listened to Fuzzcast #4 know that I planned on giving you guys a personality test this week. Well it's ready! I'm really really excited about your results.

So here's the deal: I created the test in an 3-tabbed Excel spreadsheet so that you could take the test on your computer and not have to print it out. However, for those of you still living in the Dark Ages without Excel I've also put the test in three separate .pdf format files that can be read with Adobe and printed. If you don't have Adobe Acrobat then stop reading my blog and come and find me so that I can smack you.

The instructions for the test are on the spreadsheet so I won't repeat them here, but I will say this: DO NOT OVERTHINK THE QUESTIONS. They are meant to capture your FIRST response. Just mark down the very first answer that pops into your mind. Okay? If you have questions you can leave them in the comments or e-mail me.

Once I have enough responses I'll start discussing the test in greater detail. So get crackin'!

The man obviously has impeccable taste. I can only hope that other Germanic souls out there are as wise as he. Chris, Heißen Sie Willkommen zum Wahnsinn! (Dear lord I hope that translates properly...) The thing that I love the most about the internet is that I can meet people from all over the world that I would not necessarily come in contact with otherwise. I'm so excited that I have LIUF regulars and I'm also thrilled to gain new readers! It warms my heart to know that warped people everywhere can find each other and share their mutual love for Boba Fett and Sesame Street. Ah, bliss.

Blogging for my pop-culture boyfriend...

Jess of Apropos of Something has asked me and three other readers to fill in for him on his blog while he skips town to avoid a Mafia hit. Or to go on vacation. I'm leaning towards the hit. ANYWAY I have long since decided that Jess is my pop-culture boyfriend as he and I seem to be of the same mind about pretty much all things awesome, like Star Wars or Archie comics. Jess is married, but his darling wife need not worry since a) they live in a totally different part of the country and b) I only want her husband for his ability to name all of the main characters from Homestar Runner.

My other pop-culture boyfriend is, of course, Chris. I've never told him that because single boys tend to be skittish and I don't want him to think that I'm planning some sort of theme wedding where we get married by a guy dressed like a Vulcan. (But seriously, how cool would that be. I ask you.)

Where was I? Oh yes, I'm guest blogging at Apropos of Something. Check it out.

So here's my idea:

I have a number of incredibly talented photographer friends. You know who you are. So what I'm thinking is that I'd like to collect a number of my favorite pictures from my favorite photographers and frame them for my apartment.

I only like to hang things on my walls that mean something to me. I don't buy art to match something, or because it's "important" or what-have-you. I buy art that reminds me of something that I love, or an experience that I had, or people that I care about. This way I'd have beautiful art that was taken by people that I dig! Cool idea? I think so. Now I just have to a) decide what pictures I want and b) hope that my friends will allow me copies of said pictures.

Guess who is going to kill me over this post!

Fuzzball Blog Crush Jemison! We met for lunch today. He was in town being a very important attorney taking very important depositions for a very important case. I was able to convince him to drop his briefs for a few pictures, though. Legal briefs, people. Get your heads out of the gutter. Geez.

I know, I know, he's quite a dish. I've told you before, people, I collect gorgeous and brilliant friends. They flock to me. FLOCK, I say! Just take a look in the mirror, all of you. See? You're spectacular! Now say something. Anything. . . . See? That was pure genius. You're all amazing. But I digress.

Jemison didn't want us to miss out on the profile shot.

But don't think the meeting was without drama. I almost walked out upon Jemison's confession that he had forgotten to pack the right shoes and was wearing brown shoes with a black coat. Horrors! Frankly I don't know how he made it out of the hotel without being attacked.

Lunch was lovely. I was tickled that it didn't seem like I was meeting him for the first time, it just seemed like we were picking up in the middle of a conversation that we started a few days ago. What did we talk about? Oh, job stuff, The Booglet, parents...what else? Star Wars. Of COURSE! Ahahahahaha

I was happy to finally be able to see my friend in person and give him a hug. When we left it seemed strange to say "It was great to meet you" because I've really known him for a long time. Just like when I first saw Torrie in person. When she and I first "met" we went out to dinner with her hubbie and his parents. Throughout the entire meal we kept grabbing each other and saying "DUDE. You and I are HERE TOGETHER!" Her mother-in-law thought we were nuts.

My whole life I've collected big brothers. I think it comes from being the oldest child and only having evil older female cousins. Jemison officially joined the Brothers of Fuzzball when he referred to me as a "young lady" to the waitress. Love it. My message to The Ancient One? Dude, you are NOT old yet. Would an old man do this?

I rest my case, Counselor. ;P

Oh. My. GOD.

Geeeeeez everytime I think that blog crush Chris can't possibly get any better he one-ups himself and I go gaga all over again! You guys have GOT to watch this video that he made in 1982. It's really impressive, to be honest. I was never able to get the hang of editing. Okay so my favorite parts are when the kid in the blue and white shirt reads the spell book and changes his friends around, and then when they're at a park and the same kid beats up everybody (shades of the "Can't Buy Me Love" scene in A Hard Day's Night), ooh ooh and then when all the guys are climbing out of the bathtub-- I can't stop laughing!!!!

Oh, and don't forget to check out the clothes and hair! I feel like I'm watching the kids from E.T. act out a Beatles movie. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahaha!

Here is another Super 8mm film we did called With a Little Help From My Friends around the same time period (82-83). This is what comes out of bored young boys fed a steady stream of MTV videos, Monty Python, SCTV, and Magical Mystery Tour in the 80s.

Time for the art that Garden Ridge has forgotten...

It's time for the Bayou City Art Festival!!!!

Oh, okay, I'll be fair. The festival is actually divided fairly neatly into two groups: cool stuff and Garden Ridge Pottery rejects. Oh, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Those booths that you walk by and turn to your friend with eyes that say "what in the name of all that is holy...?!?!". You're with me now, right? Yeah.

Following a long-standing tradition, Cecile (BFYAWYH) and I will be carousing with the artists on Sunday in Houston's beautiful Memorial Park. We're expert art fair visitors. We can zooooom right past the crap and hone right in on the good stuff. All two booths of it. I'm kidding! Don't forget, though, that the BCAF is famous for scaring the crap out of me with their choices of feature artists. Sadly, this year's artist has fallen short. His painting doesn't make me run screaming. It doesn't make me jump up and down and clap my hands, either, but I'm not vomiting. Hm. Maybe it will disgust me in person. Let's hope. I hate to break tradition. I'm also going to remember my camera this time so I can chronicle the madness. Hooray!
